Upton - USA My name is Howard Upton and I am a student of the Japanese
art of Shingo-ha Yoshukai Karate-do. I have been very fortunate to
have had the opportunity to study with my instructor Mike Sadler, Hanshi
for many years, and fully intend on being a lifetime student of his.
Yoshukai Karate was founded by my teacher's teacher,
Mamoru (Katsuho) Yamamoto. Yamamoto-sama was the number one student
of Dr. Tsyushi Chitose, O-Sensei. Yamamoto-sama broke away to start
his own system in the mid 60's, and is known for his exceptional kumite,
having won the All Japanese Full Contact Tournament in the same time frame
as mentioned earlier.
Sadler Sensei was one of Yamamoto-sama's top American
students, as Sadler-san was also a highly recognized tournament champion
through the 70's. Sadler Sensei also studied at the Kodokan while
living in Japan.
I look forward to any/all communications from the martial
arts world, and would also like to welcome you to my dojo in Hope, Arkansas
USA.
